Are The 49ers Back After Their Blowout of The Rams? Maybe Not!
The 49ers blew out the St. Louis Rams last night, 35-11, on Thursday Night Football. Are the 49ers back after struggling the two previous games against the Colts and Seahawks? Is Coln Kaepernick over his struggles? Well, as a 49ers fan, I hope so.
But I have to be objective when I say “I don’t think they are all the way back to playing 49ers’ football”. Why do I say that? Because early in last night’s game, the Niners did not look good at all. They had the same struggles they had against the Colts and Seattle. Their offense couldn’t move the football down the field. Their defense missed a great opportunity for an interception. They just looked flat again.
But then Frank Gore woke up and started running with success. When that happened, the passing game started to open up as Kaepernick hit Boldin with a long pass and eventually a touchdown to put the 49ers up to stay 7-3.
I know a win is a win, but it was against a struggling Rams team. Quarterbcak Sam Bradford was simply awful. He looked scared and unsure of himself. I wonder if the Rams are regretting trading away their #2 draft pick to the Redskins in 2012? Just think about it, they could have drafted Robert Griffin the third. If I was a Rams fan, I would be really worried about how Bradford is playing.
Now back to last night’s game. Colin Kaepernick did not have a monster game, but he was good enough. He ended up with 167 passing yards and threw two touchdown passes to Vernon Davis and Anquan Boldin. Frank Gore had a solid game as he tore through the Rams’ defense. Gore had 20 carries for 153 yards and a touchdown.
We will all see if the 49ers are back as the next few weeks unfold, but I have to say that no, they are not all the way back just yet in my opinion. But I sure know one thing, they HAD to have this game last night because the Seattle Seahawks are 3-0 and are threatening to run away with the NFC West. A win is a win. GO NINERS!!
